Flat Atom – Hump (Dusty Pop Remix)
Tried to take the song down a more poppy path with somewhat success. Also, slowly getting the knack of dealing with vocals. The original can be heard here.
J-Punch – Naughtier (Funky Disco Workout)
This is my new remix of J-Punch’s Naughtier. The original is a darker electronic tribal affair, part of which can be heard here. I take the track down a much funkier, disco house path.
Dawni – Feels So Good (Acoustic Remix)
This is a remix done for a Sony contest. I tried to give the track a more light weight, airy, summery feel. I pretty much built this from scratch except for the vocals, which needed layered and pitched. It’s really takes the song into a different direction from the minor key, dance feel of the original. You can hear the original track here.
Sarah McLachlan – Fear (Mirrorball Live Remix)
This is a somewhat remix of the live version from the Mirrorball concert which can be heard here. It came out pretty good, especially I felt I was able to meld the new drums and keyboards well with the existing track. The original vocal was pitched up a bit and which was interesting to here Sarah’s voice almost channel Stevie Nicks in some places. One issue with the pitch was the original keyboards got very, very muddy. I basically had to really pump them up compared to the original track. Another issue, which I haven’t quite figured how to resolve is how to deal with the slip in the rhythm track. Because this is a live track, there are a few parts where the track slows down every slow slightly which causes a very slight slip in the beat matching. This is amplified probably by the pitch shift.
Robyn – Be Mine (String Remodel)
The original ballad mix of the song basically exists as just vocal and piano and can be heard here. I’ve added additional instrumentation to “CW” it up. Seek out the original non-ballad version. It’s great in it’s own right, but the slower version musically and emotionally works better to my ears. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and I played the keyboards myself. No samples were used or injured while make this.
